Castaldo® QuickSil® molds are not weak, delicate prototypes that can be used only once or twice. They can produce dozens or hundreds of injections, depending on the complexity of the design. They do not deteriorate or become soft over time but instead last for decades.

QuickSil makes production molds but is also ideal for short runs or the last-minute emergencies that are typical in any jewelry manufacturing business.

QuickSil is a two-part room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) silicone rubber putty that is easily mixed by hand. It is not a liquid rubber, making it ideal for those without a vulcanizer or a vacuum pump.

Molds cure ready-to-use with 0% rubber shrinkage in only 15 minutes at room temperature.

Only slight pressure is needed to form the mold and drive out air pockets. Bench vises,

C-clamps, book presses and unheated vulcanizers can all be used with good results. Detailed instructions are enclosed with each kit.

QuickSil molds are easy to cut and require no lubrication, powder or release sprays as the rubber is self-lubricating.

QuickSil uses the standard tools, equipment and techniques you may already know. Learning to use it is easy.

Castaldo® QuickSil® is the easy way to make molds and cast a wide variety of objects. Because of its heat resistance low-temperature metals such as pewter and lead can be poured directly into the rubber molds. Other common casting materials include injection wax, resin compounds, ceramic materials, soap and candle wax.

QuickSil is ideal for use with metal clay, either to make a mold of an existing object and then reproduce it or to mold an original creation made in metal clay for further reproduction.

QuickSil is available in three package sizes containing equal parts A & B:

100 g. kits

1 kg. Kits

5 kg. Kits

* Special note about shrinkage rate: the figures given for this and all other rubber molding compounds are for the rubber mold itself, not the impression casting it produces. The same rubber compound molded around the same master model can produce widely varying shrinkage rates depending on the user’s skill, knowledge, precision, procedures and attention to detail.

Using QuickSil with Metal Clay

Castaldo QuickSil® is a two-part putty that is mixed by hand, not a liquid rubber, making it ideal for users without a vulcanizer or a vacuum pump. It cures to a strong rubber mold in only 15 minutes at room temperatures. Only slight pressure is needed to form the mold and drive out air bubbles. Bench vises, book presses and even C-clamps can be used with good results.

It requires no careful measuring and no messy liquids. And it can be used for direct casting of low-temperature metals such as pewter, lead, tin for making toy soldiers, chessmen, fantasy figures, fishing lures and similar items.

It is ideal for use with metal clay, too. Either make a clay model and reproduce it 100’s of times using a QuickSil mold, or mold an object in QuickSil and then reproduce it in metal clay.
